About

My research is generally engaged with Black popular culture in the later 20th century to the present moment, using a Black feminist cultural studies lens. Broadly, I am interested in the narratives and discourses about race, gender and sexuality that appear in our entertainment, news and social media. Specifically, I am currently working on a book that examines the role of Black feminist criticism of Black women celebrities in popular U.S. culture.
