Erica Gavel

Dr. Erica Gavel is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Michigan whose research focuses on women’s health, spinal cord injury, and Para sport. Her work examines reproductive and urological health, hydration, thermoregulation, and physical activity, with an emphasis on improving health and participation among women with disabilities and Para athletes. A former Paralympian in wheelchair basketball, Dr. Gavel brings both scientific and lived experience to her research, with the goal of addressing critical gaps in disability and sport science.
