About
Karen publishes primarily in the area of popular music, with work that explores intersections of gender, class, sexuality, and race in punk rock. She has also published work on the "angry young woman" phenomenon of the early-1990s, particularly as it was embodied and performed by Alanis Morissette. More recently, Karen's work has taken a turn into the topic of gender and aging, where she explores biases in media representations, or media erasures, of the aging female body in popular culture.
