Data Feminism Faculty Reading Group

Libby Hemphill, Director, Resource Center for Minority Data, ICPSR; Research Associate Professor, Institute for Social Research; Associate Professor, School of Information

Following the U-M Data Science Annual Symposium 2020 keynote on Data Feminism, I'm working to start a virtual faculty reading group on Data Feminism (both the book and the broader ideas). Like the keynote, the group is co-sponsored by the Institute for Research on Women and Gender and the Michigan Institute for Data Science. The group's goals are to read and discuss research, develop research collaborations, and eventually seek funding for future work.

If you're interested in participating in the reading group, please join the list/group on MCommunity.  The group will start meeting regularly in January. You should buy (or download) and start reading the book if you haven't already.
Q: When/where will meetings take place?
A: We'll start on Zoom, on Tuesdays at 3:00 p.m. ET, beginning January 19, 2021. Our plan is for this group to grow and expand to continue into the future and not just the winter term.
Q: Is the group for faculty only?
A: We may expand in the future, but for starters, the group is for faculty, including postdocs and research investigators, on any track and in any discipline(s).
