Winter funding opportunities for faculty research
We are thrilled to announce a series of upcoming research funding opportunities for University of Michigan faculty. With application deadlines extended to February 23, 2024, these opportunities hold immense potential for groundbreaking advancements across a variety of disciplines.
Our first notable funding opportunity is the Joan Schafer Research Faculty Award in Sport, Fitness, and Disability. Established in 2015, this award is a tribute to the lifelong work and legacy of Joan Schafer, a community volunteer, activist, and disability advocate in Michigan. This award, with applications due by 11:59 p.m. ET on February 23, 2024, encourages projects investigating the influence of disability on access and participation in sport and physical activity. Intervention research relating to public health, clinic-based settings, and transitioning from military to civilian life are of particular interest to the award committee. A maximum of $10,000 in project funds may be requested.
Our next round of IRWG Faculty Seed Grants is open, also with a deadline of February 23, 2024. These grants encourage interdisciplinary research on women, gender, and sexuality. Funding received can be utilized for everything from individual research activities such as research-related travel to collaborative projects and pilot studies. An award ranging from $500 to $7,500 may be requested depending on the project's scope.
Faculty members, spanning across tenure-track, non-tenure track, clinical faculty, research faculty, and librarians at the University of Michigan, are eligible for these funding opportunities. Non-affiliated U-M faculty are also encouraged to apply for IRWG affiliation through a simple form.
For those interested in year-round opportunities, we have rolling Incubator funding and Feminist Publication Support available.
