IRWG has awarded the 2024 Joan Schafer Research Faculty Award in Sport, Fitness, and Disability.
In spring 2024, IRWG awarded 26 grants in support of faculty, postdoctoral, and graduate student research projects related to women, gender, and sexuality.
Two IRWG Feminist Publication Support Grants were recently awarded to assist with non-traditional dissemination plans.
In spring 2024, IRWG awarded 10 seed grants in support of individual and collaborative research projects across disciplines, schools, and colleges, including LSA, SMTD, Public Health, Michigan Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, and UM Dearborn.
IRWG has awarded 12 Seed Grants for faculty projects on women, gender, sexuality, and health.
“Surveys used in public opinion research often contain meanings and assumptions that remain out of sight of the researchers who rely on them.” Prof. Sara McClelland was recently awarded a three-year grant from Indiana University to assess the presence of negative stereotypes in research about abortion.
IRWG has awarded 9 Seed Grants for faculty projects on women, gender, sexuality, and health.
In 2015, Dr. Cheryl Moyer received IRWG funding to conduct a pilot study exploring the shift from surgical to self-induced medical abortion in two fishing villages in urban Accra, Ghana. Data from the project have been presented at several national and international meetings, and two manuscripts have been published or submitted for publication.
The Sport, Health and Activity Research and Policy Center (SHARP) and the Institute for Research on Women and Gender have awarded two Joan Schafer Research Faculty Awards in Sport, Fitness, and Disability.
