Right & Left Contemporary Dance Performance

A haunting expression of human experience, Right & Left is an intricate shadow dance, moving and flowing in unison on a starkly lit stage. Two dancers express human's complex, off-kilter relationship to one another, expressing emotions through dance. Gu Jiani, a rising star of Chinese choreography, fuses a contemporary dance language of incredible precision with shadows and projected lights. A 30-minute Q&A will follow the performance. 

In conjunction of this dance performance, Professor Emily Wilcox (Asian Languages and Cultures, U-M) will introduce Gu Jiani's work and discuss issues of gender and sexuality in Chinese contemporary dance at 6 pm, Thursday, September 24 at the Michigan League Hussey Room.
