The Atlantic recently published an article about Professor Alexandra Minna Stern's work on forced sterilizations in California. 

Stern and colleagues spent several years combing through thousands of records of sterilizations carried out in California psychiatric institutions—which disproportionately affected poor and minority patients in the state. Some of the 20,000 victims are still alive today, and Stern's recently published paper has prompted discussion about compensation.

Stern also co-directs the Reproductive Justice Faculty Program at IRWG.
