Announcing New Director

As the Institute for Research on Women and Gender enters our 23rd year, we are delighted to announce our new director, Professor Anna Kirkland.

Professor Kirkland’s five-year term will begin on September 1. “I am thrilled to work with researchers from around the campus to promote all the amazing scholarship on women, gender, and sexuality that is happening at Michigan as well as fund and grow new ideas from faculty who have not yet worked with us,” says Kirkland.

Organizational Constructions of a New Right

Two-year NSF-funded study led by Anna Kirkland to examine the implementation and understanding of the Affordable Care Act's Section 1557, which bans sex discrimination by health care providers. The study will focus on health care employees who are responsible for implemeting the new regulations and receiving complaints.

Bringing Vaccines to Court
