Alcohol misuse and dating aggression are significant, interrelated public health problems, with economic costs for excessive alcohol consumption in the U.S. totaling over $200 billion in 2006, and Healthy People 2020 identifying dating violence as a major concern emerging among youth in the U.S. The MICHR PTSP will allow Dr. Epstein-Ngo to develop an innovative, remotely delivered psychotherapeutic treatment to reduce alcohol misuse and associated dating aggression and mental health risk factors for high-risk, emerging adults seen in the emergency department. This project aims to provide services to vulnerable, underserved populations facing substantial barriers to accessing substance-use treatment and interventions.
