About
Sheria Robinson-Lane, PhD, MHA, MSN, RN is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing. Her program of research aims to understand and modify psychosocial risk factors among family caregivers, particularly women, that contribute to adverse mental and physical health outcomes. To this end, much of her work has been dedicated to examining the emotional support needs of family caregivers of persons with dementia. Dr. Robinson-Lane's approach to culturally responsive and inclusive intervention design development is to plan interventions from conception with the most vulnerable populations in mind including historically marginalized and under-resourced communities. The ultimate goal of her work is to move towards a more disease-agnostic approach to family caregiver mental health support. While disease trajectories or abilities of care recipients might vary, caregiver needs and structural barriers appear similar. In addition to specialized knowledge of mixed-methods and community-engaged research, Dr. Robinson-Lane has over 20 years of clinical experience in geriatric nursing, with expertise in neuropsychiatric symptom management and family-centered care.
