About
Sara McClelland's research looks at how expectations and a sense of deservingness develops (or doesn't develop) within individuals. McClelland has studied these issues in abstinence-only sex education policies, young adults’ definitions of sexual satisfaction, lesbian and bisexual women’s experiences of stigma and discrimination from friends of family, and women diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer talking about sexual health near the end of life. Her current research concerns racial and gender bias in studies focused on Americans’ attitudes towards abortion.
