About
I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan School of Information. I am also affiliated with the Center for Social Media Responsibility (CSMR), the Center for Ethics, Society, and Computing (ESC), and the Digital Studies Institute. I am also a member of the Social Media Research Lab. My research is broadly in Social Computing, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human-Centered Computing (HCC), and Health Informatics.
My work has been published in venues such as ACM CHI, CSCW, TOCHI, and New Media and Society, and featured by media outlets such as CNN and Huffington Post. My publications have received several Best Paper Honorable Mention Awards at ACM CHI and CSCW, and my generative research at Yahoo directly contributed to novel publicly launched communication technology products. I was also the recipient of Drexel University’s Outstanding Promise Award, and a two-times recipient of the Phoebe W. Haas Endowed Doctoral Fellowship Award.
In the fall of 2018 I joined UMSI as a postdoctoral research fellow. Prior to that, I received my Ph.D. in Information Studies from the College of Computing and Informatics at Drexel University where I was advised by Dr. Andrea Forte. I also hold a M.S. in Socio-technical Systems Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, and a B.S. in Theoretical Computer Science from Sharif University of Technology. I enjoy telling stories through my work and hobbies such as photography.
