Nadine “Dean” Hubbs is a musicologist, historian, and theorist of music and society. Her writings include essays ranging from Leonard Bernstein to 1970s disco to Taylor Swift, and two award-winning books, “The Queer Composition of America's Sound,” and “Rednecks, Queers, and Country Music.” She also co-edited the award-winning collection “Uncharted Country: New Voices and Perspectives in Country Music Studies.” Her public-facing work has featured in the New York Times, The Guardian, NPR, BBC, and many other outlets, including the Dolly Parton’s America podcast. Her current book project is “Border Country: Mexico, America, and Country Music.”
