About

My research delves into Euro-centric classical opera canons, specifically examining their role in perpetuating gender stereotypes within our storytelling tradition. This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of how these canonical works reinforce and propagate gender norms throughout history, offering a nuanced understanding of their cultural impact.

Furthermore, this research seeks to present innovative strategies for reevaluating and revitalizing these classical canons in contemporary performing arts. By deconstructing established norms and shedding light on historical perspectives, we aim to pave the way for reinterpretation and adaptation in the modern era. Ultimately, this scholarly investigation aims to facilitate a more inclusive and informed approach to staging classical operas, reflecting evolving perspectives on gender in today's society. Through this work, we hope to contribute to the ongoing discourse surrounding the intersection of classical arts and societal values.
