About
Dr. Caleb Haley is a plastic surgery resident physician at the University of Michigan Section of Plastic Surgery interested in gender-affirming surgery. Originally from Boise, Idaho, he completed his undergraduate studies at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon where he studied Science in the University Honors College. He then completed medical school at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
He is currently completing an NIH T32 grant-funded health services research fellowship in the National Clinician Scholars Program (NCSP) within the University of Michigan Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation where he is working to ensure gender-diverse individuals have equitable access to quality healthcare by investigating how policies & systems affect access, delivery, & outcomes for gender-affirming surgical care.
His future career aspirations are to complete a gender-affirming surgery clinical fellowship and go on to a career as a comprehensive gender-affirming surgeon and health services researcher, focused on patient-reported outcome measures, policy analysis, and qualitative methodologies. As a future surgeon-scientist, his mission is to effect profound change in his patients’ lives by combining compassion, sophisticated research, and exceptional technical skill to help them become their most authentic selves.
