Karin Brown

PhD Candidate Educational Studies

Karin E. Brown is a PhD Candidate in the Educational Studies program in the Marsal Family School of Education at the University of Michigan. She has held various positions in the field of education over the past 15 years, including high school mathematics teacher, instructional designer, and teacher educator. Currently, she is focused on educational research as she completes her dissertation. Her research broadly centers on investigating the practices mathematics teachers can employ to increase racial equity in their classrooms. More specifically, her dissertation research investigates mathematics teacher caring and how caring practices can support youth of color as mathematics students and people.
