Clare Croft

Associate Professor of American Culture, and Women's and Gender Studies

Clare Croft is a dance theorist and historian, and sometimes a curator and dramaturg. She is the author of Jill Johnston in Motion: Dance, Writing, and Lesbian Life and the editor of The Essential Jill Johnston Reader–and both books are out from Duke UP as of October 2024. Clare is also the author of Dancers as Diplomats: American Choreography in Cultural Exchange and the editor of Queer Dance: Meanings and Makings. She Associate Professor of American Culture, and holds a PhD in Performance as Public Practice from the University of Texas-Austin.
