About

Hollis Griffin's research focuses on the cultural politics of television and new media, especially as they relate to affect, sexuality, and questions of space and place. His book, Feeling Normal: Sexuality and Media Criticism in the Digital Age (Indiana, 2017), was named an Outstanding Academic Title for 2017 by Choice, the publication of the American Library Association. Hollis has published research in New Media & Society, International Journal of Cultural Studies, Journal of Cinema and Media Studies, Feminist Media Histories, Television & New Media, Popular Communication, Journal of Popular Film and Television, and the anthologies The Companion to Reality Television (Wiley) and The Routledge Companion to Urban Media and Communication. Hollis has served as Associate Editor for the journal Communication, Culture, and Critique, as well as on the editorial boards of Film Criticism and Queer Studies in Media & Popular Culture. Currently, he sits on the Board of Directors for the Society for Cinema and Media Studies, where he serves as Secretary.
