Visiting Scholars Program

Description:

Faculty members, postdoctoral scholars, and researchers from other institutions around the nation and the world, whose work focuses on women or gender may reside at IRWG for as long as one academic year. Visiting scholars are generally on sabbatical from their home institutions (that is, the title is not designed for independent scholars or those on the job market).

Visiting scholars will have full access to the institute's community and will automatically be affiliated with the Women's Studies Department. Visiting Scholars may join existing study groups or organize one of their own.

Deadline:

Rolling deadline

Award(s):

Visiting Scholars will ordinarily be housed at the institute, where they will be provided with:

  • shared office space
  • an e-mail account
  • University Library privileges
  • A small fund (a total of $125/semester, not to exceed $250 for an academic year) will be provided for fax and copying charges.
  • Appointments may be requested for fall or winter terms, or for an entire academic year. (Summer appointments are discouraged because many university faculty are away during the summer.)
  • Appointments will be awarded based on a fit between the candidate's interests and those of the faculty, scholars, and researchers currently affiliated with the institute and will be subject to space availability.
  • No salary, stipend, research funding, health insurance, or travel or moving reimbursement is included.
